Corporate Marketing Website Redesign
Overview: Spectra Logic hired me to redesign, develop and transition their corporate marketing website to a new content management system.
- Problem: The site was dated, didn’t effectively communicate products or resources and was not mobile friendly.
- Solution: Give a higher prominence to product graphics, features and instructional videos. Added contact forms and information closer to product information so prospective customers wouldn’t have to search to learn more. Created an interactive homepage slider to communicate the company’s “Access to anything…” marketing campaign.
- Customization: I built the site in WordPress so it would be easy for the entire marketing department to update. My first step was to research the Google Analytics information on the previous design so I could make informed design decisions with the goal of increasing conversions. After designing a low-fidelity mockup with pen and paper, I then prototyped the site in InVision and Sketch and built the site in HTML, CSS, JS and Foundation before building it in WordPress.
- Results: The site hit a range of successful metrics, including an increase in form submissions requesting more product information. Additionally, there were increased rates of mobile interactions including time on site, returning users and a decreased bounce rate. The site was also easier to use on mobile phones and tablet devices because it was designed with a mobile first mindset.
